Prince Charles and Camilla 'to visit Spain'

Prince Charles and Camilla 'to visit Spain'

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla will make their first official visit to Spain as a couple towards the end of March, leading Spanish daily El Pais said Monday.

Charles and Camilla are to meet with the Spanish royal family and Prime Minister, El Pais

The royals planned to stay for about three days, visiting Madrid and the southern city of Seville, but there were no exact dates yet, the paper said, without identifying a source.

In London, Charles' press office declined to confirm or deny the report.

"We normally announce visits a couple of weeks before they take place and that is not a visit that has been announced," a spokeswoman for his office said.

Charles and his wife would meet with King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, Prince Felipe and his wife Princess Letizia, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Madrid Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon, the paper said.

In August 1987, Charles and then wife Princess Diana spent a family holiday as guests of the Spanish royals at their summer palace on the island of Majorca, where tensions between the couple were reportedly evident.

Charles attended the funeral for Don Juan, the father of King Juan Carlos, in April 1993 and was a guest at the May 2004 wedding of Felipe and Letizia in Madrid.
